Couple Does Something Unique During Engagement: Mangalore Needs More Like Them

October 14: Vikhyat and Arpitha postgraduates in business administration, got engaged in  Mangalore recently. The couple has taken to unique step in order to promote and spread the message to protect the environment. During the engagement ceremony this prospective bride and groom have gifted cotton bags to the guests who attended to function.
The guests were not only served with food but were also gifted with cotton bags with message “swachhateyatta ondu hejje – plastic balasade parisara ulisi” (a step towards cleanliness – avoid plastic, save nature) on it against the use of plastic. The cotton bags were gifted to the guests by the couple themselves.
Prabhakar Kulal, father of the bride was the one who initiated the thought of making the ceremony green. He said that it is the right time that people start using cotton bags as plastic has been banned by the government. Kulal is closely associated with environmentalist Dinesh Holla and they often discuss about various initiatives to stop the use of plastic to protect the environment. He mentioned that he wanted to make his daughter’s  marriage an opportunity to spread the message against plastic.
Kulal mentioned that as many as 500 bags with the message  were distributed to guests on the occasion.
