13 python eggs hatch at Pilikula Biological Park in Mangalore

June 21: On April 27, while excavation was being carried out near a house a big python was found, which escaped. It left its eggs behindwhich were thrown by the workers hoping that animals would eat them.
About 13 python eggs were rescued from Kulai in the outskirts of Mangalore on April 27. Two local residents Shubha and Soumya  noticed them from Kodikeri in Kulai. Tauseef Ahmed had recovered 13 python eggs and handed them over to the forest department, who in turn handed them to the Pilikula Biological Park.
The hatching was delayed probably because of artificial incubation due to which the survival of the pythons was doubtful.
Tauseef said that the number of python rescue calls have reduced when compared to cobras and rat snakes as people have myths that pythons are capable of swallowing children.
