Will not withdraw nomination: Congress rebel candidate Amrith Shenoy
March 27: All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Amrith Shenoy had filed his nomination for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate on Tuesday, March 26. Shenoy said that he took this decision as the party high command decided to cede Udupi-Chikmaglur Lok Sabha constituency to JD(S) as per the seat-sharing deal.
Shenoy stated that he will contest from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency and would not withdraw nomination under any pressure. He said he felt ashamed to seek votes for the candidate in the name of JD(S) since JD(S) was a weak party which had no support in this region. Hence the efforts of Congress members will go waste. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the high command’s decision which was taken consulting the workers.
Shenoy said that he would raise funds from public and donors and utilise it for the campaigning and if he gets elected from the constituency, he would dedicate himself to it’s growth.
