Proposal To Set Up Coastline Marine Aquarium Complex: This Is An Awesome News
October 28: Fisheries minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has instructed the Fisheries Department to select three ideal places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts where marine museum complex can be set up.
The College of Fisheries, Mangalore, has proposed to set up a coastal marine museum complex along the 320-km coastline of the state which will extend to the sea and give people a real feel of the aquatic life. This marine museum complex will showcase the rich biodiversity and culture of the Western Ghats, and also give a good understanding of the aquatic life.
The marine complex should be set up at a place where water is not polluted. The complex can be set up in about 10 acres. One among the 25 of the 120 islands along the Karnataka coast, which are 5 metres above sea level, can also be considered for this complex.
This will be a big boost to tourism in the coastal districts.
