Big Relief For Udupi District: All UK Returnees Test Negative For Covid-19

December 24: After the detection of a new variant of COVID-19 virus from the United Kingdom (UK), state government had issued a health advisory stating all passengers from the UK have to mandatorily undergo RT-PCR testing. Eight passengers from Udupi district who returned from UK were asked to undergo the test. All eight have tested negative for covid 19.
District health and family welfare officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda said that even though the test reports are negative, the returnees have asked to undergo 14 day quarantine as there is a lot of unpredictability about the new strain of virus detected in the UK.
