Electrification of Konkan Railway to be Completed by December This Year: This is How it Will Benefit

The electrification of Konkan railway track from Roha in Maharashtra to Thokur in Mangalore is expected to be completed by December 2021. With this, the electric passenger train services could be launched. The electrification of the 741 km long railway track had begun in 2017 at a cost of Rs 1100 crore. Currently the Konkan railway corporation limited is paying Approximately Rs 300 crore annually for fuel but after electrification the corporation will be able to save Rs 100 Crore.
The electrification work between Raha & Rathnagiri and Thokur to Karwar has been completed. The work between Rathnagiri & Karwar which is 300 km is underway which is expected to be completed by end of December this year.
