Team of Kambala Enthusiasts Build 130 Metre Practice Track at a Farm in Udupi

A team of Kambala enthusiasts have built a 130-metre practice track in the middle of a field in Udupi district. The track off Sita river at Kalibailu, has been carved out without using heavy machinery, and it was inaugurated on August 19. As many as nine pairs of buffaloes have been brought to the newly created track for practice since its inauguration. Abhijith Pandeshwara, a member of Kambala team Moodahadadu Pandeshwara Sasthana, said that there are many enthusiasts and patrons, whose buffaloes have won prizes but cannot do regular practice due to lack of tracks. With the support of 30 Kambala enthusiasts, this track has been built on a patch of private land. As of now the organisers do not charge entry fee as they want to create a pool of new talent. The project has been guided by KV Ramesh Rao of Shri Rakteshwari temple, Pandeshwar, Kambala patron Ganesh Poojary Melbettu of Sasthan and team, and Kambala jockey Gopal Naik Mudddumane Shiroor.
