Following Traffic Rules in Udupi is a Must: DC Directs Officials to Take Action on Black Spots
Road safety committee meeting was held at Udupi district panchayat auditorium on Wednesday November 10. Udupi DC M Kurma Rao that accidents can be prevented when public diligently adhere to all traffic related guidelines like wearing seat belts and helmets.
The DC has directed the NH officials to see to it that the identified 34 black spots on the National Highways of the district are safe for motorists within two months. He said the black spots must be identified and necessary measures must be taken including putting up of sign boards. The regional transport authority and the police should inspect the spots once again and submit a detailed report about the actions that need to be taken. Warning sign boards should be erected on national highways and necessary measures should be taken. The police department should train one teacher each from all the high schools and pre university colleges within the next ten days to create awareness among children, he added.
