Gamaka artiste Gangamma Keshavamurthy receives the ‘Muliya Thimmappayya Prashasti’
April 13: A well known Gamaka artiste Gangamma Keshavamurthy was felicitated with Muliya Thimmappayya Award. After receiving the ‘Muliya Thimmappayya Prashasti’, Gang amma said that The ancient art of Gamaka can be saved and popularised only with the joint efforts of youth and the elderly. Gangamma said that Karnataka Gamakakala Parishat was engaged in supporting this musical art.
Satish Kumar Kemmannu spoke about the achievements of Gangamma. Dr Shantaram emphasised the importance of ‘Vyakhyana’, explanatory comments, in enjoying Gamaka programmes.
Writer Erya Laxminarayana Alva recollected the life and literary achievements of Muliya Thimmappayya. The Award giving ceremony ended with Gamaka Vachana and ‘Vyakhyana’ by Gangamma Keshavamurthy and Shanta Gopal (Episode of Krishna becoming Arjuna’s charioteer).
