MLA Raghupathi Bhat accuses Pramod Madhwaraj of being Anti-fishermen
April 15: Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat accused JD(S) – Congress coalition candidate Pramod Madhwaraj of being anti-fishermen. He said that Madhwaraj has deprived the poor fishermen, especially women, of their livelihood. MLA Bhat challenges Madhwaraj to elaborate his achievements and support he offered to the people of his community during his tenure as fisheries minister. Madhwaraj has failed as fisheries minister and has created obstacles in the implementation of schemes for fishermen by the Central government, he stated.
Bhat also accused Madhwaraj of allotting land near the Ayyappa Mandir for the bus stop and the denial of a space to dry fish to fisherfolk. He alleged that Madhwaraj betrayed the fishermen community as he entrusted the slipway work to a private entity and not to the fishermen.
