Rising Temperature in Coastal Districts: DC Ravikumar Instructs Educational Institutions to Take Precautions
In view of the mercury levels rising in the coastal district, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner M R Ravi Kumar has instructed the heads of all educational institutions to take special care and precautions in order to safeguard the health of students residing in hostels.
Hostels must provide clean drinking water and, when possible, mild boiled hot water. Hostel rooms and utensils used for cooking must be clean, and those who cook food in the hostels should maintain good personal hygiene and keep their hands clean. A health checkup should be conducted for kitchen staff and those who prepare food every six months. Additionally, water samples from various sources supplied to the kitchen should be tested in the laboratory once a month. Washrooms and toilets of the hostels must be kept clean.
In the event of ill-health of any student, then he or she must be provided suitable treatment after consulting health officers and Health Department, the DC has said.
