Dakshina Kannada Health Department Takes Precautions Against Dengue Cases in The District

The Dakshina Kannada health department is on alert and has urged public to take necessary precautions. With the intermittent rain lashing the district, there is the possibility of a rise in dengue cases in the district. The district administration alled upon the people to join hands with the health department in controlling the mosquito menace in the district. Overall the district is recording a fall in dengue and malaria cases.

The district recorded 1,539 dengue cases in 2019, 239 in 2020, 295 in 2021 and 388 cases in 2022. Meanwhile, 2,797 malaria cases were reported in 2019, and the number dropped to 1,397 in 2020, 689 in 2021 and 168 cases were reported last year. The department has been conducting larvae surveys and source reduction drives to check the breeding of mosquitoes throughout the year.
