Mangalore experienced heavy downpour on Tuesday morning, reminding the residents of the past monsoons. The downpour that started around 8.45am lasted for two hours, bringing much needed relief to all, waiting for the rains.
With more rainfall expected, the IMD has issued a orange alert for coastal districts for next few days. The IMD had already issued warning to fishermen not to venture into the Sea till July 1, stating that squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely along and off Karnataka Coasts advising fishermen. IMD also predicted very heavy rain in the region of 115mm to 244 mm was likely at isolated places over Uttara Kannada district and 64mm to 115 mm at isolated places over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Coastal Karnataka.
