Rainfall Intensifies in Mangalore: Coastal Districts Under Red Alert Till July 18
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) have issued a red alert (indicating extremely heavy rainfall of above 204.5 mm) for the coastal districts on Tuesday. The IMD stated that the red alert for coastal districts will continue on July 17, and is valid for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada until 8:30 a.m. on July 18.
According to the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority, the district recorded 68 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, compared to the normal rainfall of 39.4 mm for the same period.
