National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team to be in Dakshina Kannada soon

May 9: Principal Secretary (Disaster Management) in Revenue Department Rajkumar Khatri said that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team will be deployed in Dakshina Kannada before  monsoon. While addressing officials during the monsoon preparatory meeting which was held at Netravathy Hall in Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat office he assured that the state government would provide all assistance to tackle any natural calamity likely occur during the Southwest monsoon.
He lauded fire service and emergency department personnel for their preparedness to tackle any eventuality that might occur during the monsoon. A meeting of the officials from NHAI and National Highway will be held in Bengaluru shortly. A report on the measures taken by them to face the monsoon will be given to deputy commissioner. Home Secretary Umesh Kumar said NHAI and PWD officials should conduct a survey of landslide-prone areas in order to take precautionary measures to check possible landslides during monsoon.
Regional Commissioner
T K Anil Kumar said the public should be informed about the precautionary measures taken in flood-affected areas. Silt from all the the stormwater drains should be removed to avoid artificial flooding in urban areas. IGP (Western range) Arun Chakravarthy said measures had been taken to work in coordination with the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S spoke on scientific and technical measures taken to tackle natural calamity.
