This town in Dakshina Kannada District is all set to become plastic free

August 3: Sullia Town Panchayat has decided to implement a ban on the use of plastic from August 15.
This was decided during a meeting presided by Tahsildar N A Kunhi Ahammed. It has been decided to first implement ban on plastic in Sullia town and later, it will be extended to entire taluk.
An awareness jatha will be held from Old Gate to Gandhinagara on August 7. to create awareness among public and merchants. Along with this an awareness will be created on the ill effects of plastics, visiting the shops by schoolchildren, college students and members of various organisations.
It was also decided to promote paper bags and cloth bags. Merchants’ Association President P B Sudhakar Rai promised to extend support to the authorities in this regard.
