43 checkposts set up across DK & Udupi ahead of Elections

After the Loksabha Election Dates were announced by the Election Commission, the Police has set up as many as 43 checkposts across the coast. These checkposts have been set up to check the flow of cash & liquor to various parts of Dakshina Kannada & Udupi Districts.
According to the Police, CCTV Cameras near Border areas of the districts have been installed for extra vigilance. Vehicles travelling from one District to other are also being checked & personnel have been deployed in three shifts.
Special drives are being conducted at Kerala checkposts borders, due to inputs received on high liquor being transported to neighbouring districts. Police officials are also keeping a check on gifts & expensive items going to Kerala. Vehicles are being checked within the city limits of Mangalore as well.
Security forces are carrying out route marches to build confidence among the voters.
