40-km-Long Human Chain on April 7 to create Voter Awareness
Dakshina Kannada Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (Sveep) Committee will organise a 40-km long human chain on the beaches from Talapady to Haleyangady to create awareness on voting, in Mulki on April 7. Hundreds of people would hold hands to form a chain on the beaches just to spread the message on the importance of exercising franchise.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S said that Nodal officers have been appointed in Ullal, Mangaluru and Mulki divisions to ensure the success of this human chain.
Human chain is likely to be discontinued on trenches without water. Banners will be mounted to spread the message at such places. 750 to 800 people are needed to form human chain for every kilometre.
Selvamani R, the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that Sveep had decided to organise a variety of programmes for every kilometre. Health camps will be organised at different places on account of World Health Day on April 7. Along with this, Yakshagana and other cultural programmes will also be organised.
