All India South Zone Junior Sports Tourney First time In Udupi District

September 11: MLA Raghupathi Bhat on Tuesday, September 10 said that All India South Zone Junior sports tournament will be organised at Ajjarkadu district stadium from September 13 to 15.
MLA Bhat said that All India South Zone Junior Sports Tournament is being held for the first time in Udupi district. The tournament is being organised jointly by the District Amateur Athletic Association and the District Sports and Youth Service Department.
Bhat said that the expenditure to host the tournament is around Rs 40 lakh. and Chief Minister Yediyurappa has promised to release Rs 25 lakh for the event. The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) will take care of the hospitality. Nearly 1,250 sports talents from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar islands are expected to take part in the tournament. Besides, 150 technical officers and 100 volunteers will be part of the tournament.
Mla Bhat stated that a procession will be organised from Jodukatte to Ajjarkadu Stadium prior to the inaugural ceremony. As many as 130 competitions have been planned. In order to maintain transparency in the results, the technique of photo finish system will be implemented, he said.
