Along With Smart City, Kudla All Set To Be A Fruit City

January 14: Several developmental works are being undertaken under the Smart City project in Mangalore. Along with smart city, environmentalist plans to make Mangalore a fruit city.
A memorandum has been submitted by environmentalist Madhava Ullal to deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh seeking permission to plant saplings of fruit bearing trees by the roadside median or any vacant space available in the city.
Madhava Ullal, who has already planted over 32,000 saplings in the city and on the outskirts. He mentioned that along with developmental projects Mangalore needs trees to reduce the heat during summer and therefore there are plans to plant trees to reduce the heat during summer. This concept is the first time in India. He mentioned that the trees the work on planting saplings will start as soon as MCC extends its support.
Saplings of different fruits will be planted at available places in Kottara, Pumpwell, Kudroli, Mangaladevi and Jeppu and other areas or which least 25,000 saplings will be needed.
