Auto Drivers’ Union Demand A Hike In Fare: Likely To Raise By Rs 5?

February 15: Auto Rikshaw Drivers’ unions are demanding a hike in the fare, which is likely to rise soon. Even though the unions have called for a hike earlier, the rate has not been increased.  Five years have gone by since the auto prices in the district have not risen, while petrol and diesel prices have gone up.
This is causing inconvenience to all those who depends on auto rikshaws for their living. However, the public is of the view that the auto travel rates should not burden the citizens by the revised rates.
In view of this, the Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority will hold a meeting in the district office on February 27 during which  appropriate decision will be taken.
