Ban Imposed on Artificial Colors in Kabab Fish & Other Items: Violators to be Fined For Rs 10 Lac Penalty & Imprisonment

The Karnataka state government has issued a significant order banning the use of artificial colors in kabab, fish, and any other dishes across the state. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) took this decision to protect public health, as artificial colors in food can have harmful effects. As per the order violators will be imposed a fine of up to Rs 10 lac and punishment from seven years up to life imprisonment.

Previously, the Food Safety and Standards Department of Karnataka had banned the use of artificial colors in cotton candy and gobi manchurian after harmful chemicals were detected in the artificial colors used in these foods.

This recent ban on artificial colors in kabab, fish, and chicken dishes is a continuation of the government’s efforts to ensure food safety and protect public health.
