Bell to Drink Water in Schools: St Agnes Becomes The First School To Implement This in Manglore
November 15: Indraprastha Vidyalaya, a school in Uppinangady, rings a special bell thrice a day to encourage students to drink water. The water bell rings thrice a day at 10.35 am, 12 pm and 2 pm that is about 30 minutes before the five minute interval that the school provides to the students. This initiative got positive response from parents and people on social media.
Dr Ananth Prabhu G, professor at Sahyadri College of Engineering came across a post on Facebook where students are made to drink water compulsorily every 3 hours.
Inspired by this post, Dr Prabhu wanted all students in Mangalore to follow this concept. He along with Raichur superintendent of police, Dr Vedamurthy CB, distributed around 230 bottles water bottles to the students of St Agnes aided Kannada primary school. He also requested the headmistress, Sr Jyothsna to start the system of ringing water Bell at regular interval every day for which she readily agreed. Thus, St Agnes became the first school in Mangalore.
