Belthangady Taluk: Will it be Declared as a Disaster-Affected Taluk? Know More

August 13: Former district in-charge minister U T Khader said that Belthangady taluk should be declared aa disaster-affected taluk as it has suffered the worst in Dakshina Kannada  district and compensation should be released without delay.
He also mentioned that due to coordination between people and officials, there was minimal loss to life. He urged the Government that the rehabilitation package on the lines of Kodagu should be implemented in Bantwal and Belthangady taluks and compensation to people who have been rendered homeless should be increased to Rs 9.5 lakh.
Khader said that Congress’ fact-finding committee will be soon visit the flood-hit areas in order to provide relief to people affected by floods. Since the expansion of cabinet is not likely to take place, the Chief Minister should convene an all-party meeting to ensure effective distribution of relief and compensation to those affected by floods.
