Child Helpline to Support The Children in Distress: Weeklong Campaign to Start Today
November 14: A week-long ‘Child Helpline Se Dosti’ campaign organised by Child Helpline, India Foundation will be inaugurated at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, at 4.30 pm on Thursday. The campaign is being launched across the country.
A padayatra to create awareness about Childline 1098 will be organised from the District Wenlock hospital till the deputy commissioner’s office on November 15.
Childline 1098 will organise awareness programmes against child marriages at religious centres in and around Panambur on November 16 and on cyber crime and internet in schools on November 17. A motorbike rally is being planned from the deputy commissioner’s office to Ambedkar (Jyothi) Circle via Nanthoor Junction on the same day. Childline 1098 will organise a Makkala Grama Sabha on November 18 and games for inmates of Lions Special School in Surathkal. Childline 1098 has received 430 complaints from April to September this year and 15 children in distress have been counselled by the staff of the childline.
Dakshina Kannada District Childline 1098 convener Deekshitha Acharapady has urged all non-government organisations should join hands with Child Helpline to provide support to children in distress.
