City Police Modifies Traffic Movement: These Changes Have Been Made

November 11: Several roads in Mangalore city are dug up for developmental works which has caused inconvenience to the commuters. Several motorists expressed displeasure on this issue through social media.
The Mangalore city police have made some changes in the traffic movement that eased traffic issues in the central business district area, Hampankatta. The city police had banned movement of vehicles across the junction and announced alternative vehicle movement plans that created traffic chaos in the area which irked the motorists.
Citizens started trolling MCC for the poor planning whereas some made calls to Mangalore City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath to express their anguish over traffic issue. MLA Kamath called for an emergency meeting of the city police, MSCL and other officials on Monday evening and he directed them to take steps to smoothen traffic flow.
From Tuesday morning, a ramp was placed to connect the Old Service Bus Stand with the Mulky Sundaram Shetty (Light House Hill) Road. Vehicles going to Ambedkar (Jyothi) Circle from the Clock Tower were made to take a left turn at the Hampankatta Junction and then take a right turn towards the Old Service Bus Stand and reach the Light House Hill Road. Vehicles from K.S. Rao Road to State Bank of India bus terminus were diverted towards Sharavu Mahaganapati.
These changes have eased the traffic movement in Hampankatta area which has solved the issue to some extent.
