Coastal Districts Experience Above-Average Rainfall During Monsoon Season This Year

The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have received more rain than usual from June to September. The coastal belt of Karnataka typically experiences monsoon rains, with an average of 3101 mm during this time. However, as of September 1, the twin districts have received 3327 mm of rain, marking an 18% increase. This is the first time since 2020 that the coastal region has experienced above-average rainfall during the monsoon season.

However, both Dakshina Kannada & Udupi districts saw below-average rainfall until mid-June. It wasn’t until late July through the end of August that heavy rains began to fall in the twin districts.
