Coastal Districts to Get 1348 New Vented Dams: Here Is A Master Plan By Minor Irrigation Department

November 25: Minor irrigation department has drawn up a master plan to construct 1,348 vented dams in the coastal districts of Karnataka. The dam will be constructed in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi & Uttara Kannada Districts at a cost of Rs 3,986.25 crore across the rivers flowing from western ghats to the coastal region.
The project report has been submitted to the government and is expected to be approved in the next cabinet meeting. The project will take 5 years and will provide drinking water and irrigation, ensure road connectivity and also promote prawn culture.
