Construction Of Protective Fence On Ullal Bridge: Work Likely To Be Completed In Three Months

July 26: The Mangalore Urban Development Authority is working on a constructing protective fence on bridge across National Highway 66. The protective fencing is being provided on Ullal bridge to prevent suicides.
The construction work is likely to be completed in three months.
The 5 ft high protection fence has 1 inch barbed wire on top. The iron fence is manufactured in the workshop and then transported to the bridge and welded to the bridge using iron rods. Four rows of barbed wire are attached to the side of the road so that the top of the fence cannot be climbed.
The bridge, is 800 metres long and comprises two bridges, one allows traffic towards Thokkottu and the other towards the city. The fence is being provided to both these bridges.
The construction work was inaugurated by Mangalore South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, on July 4.
