Cyber Laws and Cyber Crimes: Mangalore University takes these steps create awareness

July 10: Following the incident of Puttur gang rape, Mangalore University has decided to take up awareness programmes on cyber crimes in all its constituent undergraduate colleges.
P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University said that after completing the admission process, Dakshina Kannada district police, counselors and experts will be requested to spread awareness about drug mafia, ragging, cyber crimes and sexual abuse. He also mentioned that the university will insist on strict implementation of the ban on mobile phones inside the class.
Former child welfare committee chairperson and advocate Asha Nayak stated that the Government should include cyber laws in the curriculum, beginning from schools. Along with this, Counselling and propagation of the consequences of such acts is needed and schools and colleges must teach the students about cyber laws and cyber crimes.
