Dakshina Kannada District Registers 40°C Temperature: Highest This Summer

Dakshina Kannada reported a peak temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius. According to a report from the IMD, current temperatures in the coastal region are running 1 to 2 degrees Celsius above the usual range between 35 to 36 degrees Celsius.

The Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority has issued a set of guidelines to mitigate heatstroke risks

  • Stay hydrated by drinking water regularly and indulge in water-rich fruits such as watermelon, cucumber, and pineapple.
  • Shield yourself with caps when venturing outdoors.
  • Opt for loose, light-colored cotton clothing to alleviate discomfort during summer.
  • Refrain from walking barefoot under the scorching sun; wear appropriate footwear.
  • Consume 2-3 liters of water daily to stave off dehydration.
