DC Rajendra Directs Mangalore Airport & Port Authorities to be Vigilant to Prevent The New Virus
Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner K V Rajendra has directed the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) authorities to be vigilant in order to prevent the spread of the new Covid variant. Mangalore International Airport and NMPT play an important role in preventing the spread of the Omicron virus.
The DC stated that the people who are arriving at the airport should compulsorily possess RT-PCR negative report. If a person tests positive at the airport, the authorities should make arrangements to shift the patient to the hospital in an ambulance immediately. Similarly, the NMPT also should make all passengers in national and international ships undergo RT-PCR tests. Also the data of all passengers arriving at the port should be sent to the health department on a weekly basis. The DC also mentioned that vehicles arriving from Kerala and Maharashtra into the district should be examined, and the passengers in these vehicles need to be in possession of RT-PCR reports. If their reports are not provided at the time of checking, steps will be taken to restrict inter-state transport.
In addition, the people visiting the city corporation office have to provide the details of first and second dose vaccinations. As a large number of people visit the regional transport office every day, they too should provide information about vaccination.
