July 26: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has directed officials to issue identity cards to transgenders within a week. he asked the officials to constitute a sub-committees to issue identity cards.
DC Senthill, while chairing a meeting of officers from the Women and Child Development Department and the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation said that “Transgenders’ representatives should be selected and a committees should be constituted to conduct medical process at taluk-level.
He has instructed the officers to collect information on transgenders and complete all the process within a week.
