Dedicated Team Set up in Dakshina Kannada to Scrutinize Social Media Posts During Lok Sabha Elections

Dedicated squads for upholding the model code of conduct (MCC) and video viewing teams (VVT) in Dakshina Kannada (DK) are set to scrutinise social media activities for any content that could provoke discord among political groups during the Lok Sabha polls. As per guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), these teams have been established across eight assembly constituencies within the DK Lok Sabha area.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan MP, who is also the election officer for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat, has stated that measures will be taken against the dissemination of baseless news, images and videos on social media and digital platforms throughout the elections. The DC mentioned that the public is encouraged to report any such activities to the Election Commission using the cVIGIL App. This application ensures the confidentiality of the complainants while pursuing action against any breaches.
