Deep Sea Fishing To Be Banned For 61 Days From June 1: Click To Know The Reason

May 26: The 61 day annual deep sea fishing has been banned from June 1 to July 31. This ban has been announced by the State government to facilitate breeding of fish.
Monsoon is the breeding season for fish which lay eggs in coastal districts and fishing during this season will adversely affect the fish catch after the fishing is resumed after July 31.
Deputy director of fisheries department, Harish Kumar said that mechanized boats fitted with inboard and outboard engines of 10hp and above are banned from fishing during this period, whereas traditional fishing boats with engines less than 10hp can carry out fishing.
he also mentioned that action will be taken against the violators under Karnataka Marine Fishing Regulation Act 1986 and they will also not be eligible for subsidized diesel for one year.
