Demolition of Central Market Building Is On Stay: Order Issued By The High Court

May 6: The Mangalore city corporation and the district administration had decided to demolish the old central market building and rebuild a building with modern facilities. The wholesalers market at the building was shifted to Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) facility at Baikampady.
Haneef Malar, Ammi Maripalla and Ibrahim B F had questioned the decision of MCC & District administration to demolish the building through a public interest litigation (PIL) filed in the high court.
The state high court, which took up a public interest litigation PIL questioning the decision of the city corporation to demolish the central market building on Tuesday May 5, issued stay order against the demolition of the said building.
