Eco Friendly Recycled Plastic House Launched: First of Its Kind In Mangalore

November 11: The Plastic for Change India Foundation which has been working to develop and improve the quality of life of informal waste-collectors in Karnataka has constructed a plastic house at Pacchanady and handed it over to a beneficiary. The house consists of one kitchen, one hall, one small room and an attached bathroom, all in 350 sq ft. The total cost of this plastic house is worth Rs 4.5 lac.
Plastic for Change India Foundation, chief executive officer (CEO) Shifra Jacob, director Chandan M C, project coordinator Jayanthi, and project director women’s welfare society Surekha D Patil were present while  handing over the unique house to the beneficiary.
The foundation converts hard-to-recycle plastic waste into building material that can be used to construct low-cost shelter. The collection of low value plastic for this application helps to increase income opportunities for waste-pickers/ waste-collectors.
