Fake News On Social Media Leads To Chaos At Mangalore Railway Station: Know What Happened

May 9: Fake messages on social media that trains were being operated to their native states leads to gathering of hundreds of migrant labourers from North India gathered at Mangalore Central Railway Station.
Many labourers from Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, who are stranded in different parts of the district reached Mangalore railway station to board trains to their native states.

When the labourers realised that there were no trains, they held a protest which led to chaos at the railway station. Mangalore Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan, who held talks with the labourers, said that the government was making all the arrangements. Mangalore Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha, also rushed to the spot and promised to make arrangement to send them back to their native places within a few days.
