Farmer from Mangalore spends Rs 772 to avail compensation of Rs 800!

Bhasker, a farmer from Kairangala Koppala who was a beneficiary of natural disaster fund, had to pay fine as the cheques which were given to him bounced twice.
Bhaskar had received a cheque of Rs 800 as compensation after his 25 arecanut trees and two coconut trees were uprooted due to heavy uninterrupted rains. He had spent Rs 300 to file the complaint.
However, when the he received the first cheque at HDFC bank, the bank officials sent him back for not getting Tahshildar’s signature on the cheque and deducted Rs 236 as fine. When the farmer went to verify the cheque at Mini Vidhana Soudha, he was issued with another cheque stating that they had some issues as a new Tahshildar was appointed.
The second cheque bounced and the farmer had to pay Rs 236 again as fine. Hence, in order to get a compensation of Rs 800, the farmer has lost Rs 772 which included fine  deducted by the bank and the amount he paid for filing application.
