First Ever Lung Surgery For Rare Congenital Disease Performed at AJ Hospital Successfully
A 1.9-year-old child was referred to A J Hospital with complaints of repeated respiratory infection and coughing out blood (Hemoptysis). On evaluation, the child was found to have a rare genetic condition called Aberrant Systemic Arterial – Pulmonary Venous Fistula with Intralobar Pulmonary Sequestration.
The first ever successful lung surgery for such a rare congenital disease was performed at AJ Hospital. The child successfully underwent this intricate lung surgery performed by consultant cardio – thoracic and vascular surgeon Dr Sambhram Shetty H S, ably supported by consultant cardio thoracic surgeon Dr Jayashankar Marla. Anaesthesia and intensive care was managed by Dr Suhas M K.
