First Of Its Kind Multicultural Festival Has Been Organised in Mangalore: Click For Details

A first-of-its-kind, multicultural festival will be organised in Mangalore as a part of the Karnataka Suvarna Sambhrama, on December 3 and 4 at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall in the city. Chief minister Siddaramaiah is likely to inaugurate the festival on December 3.

 

The festival will be organised jointly by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Arebhashe Academy, Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy and Yakshagana Academy, in collaboration with Dakshina Kannada district administration. The multicultural festival will offer writers and artists from various communities who speak different languages a platform to showcase their talent.

The festival will commence with a multicultural procession showcasing various cultural programmes associated with Tulu, Beary, Konkani, Arebhashe, Kodava languages, and folk arts of the region. At the festival venue, nearly 50 artistes from the Tulu, Beary, Konkani, Arebhashe, and Kodava academies will present a multicultural dance drama featuring the cultural heritage of the region prior to the inaugural session.

An exhibition to showcase books, arts, sculpture, paintings, culture, and heritage of the region will also be set up at the festival venue in association with various academies. A traditional food festival will also be organised as part of the festival to popularise the local cuisines of the communities that speak five languages. Interactions and cultural programmes by students will also be held during the festival.
