FKCCI urges government to reduce the steep water tariff imposed on industries
Sudhakar Shetty, President of Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry urged government to reduce the steep water tariff imposed on industries.
A special executive committee meeting of FKCCI has also resolved to urge the government on dropping the order on revised water tariff.
He Said that the government should reduce the tariff immediately for water drawn from natural sources, including rivers and rivulets, water tariff was revised up to Rs 1,50,000 per million cubic feet across industries from Rs 1,800 per million cubic feet. For drawing water from canals, lakes and reservoir, the tariff was increased up to Rs 3 lakh mcft from Rs 3,200 mcft. He stated that the revised water tariff is a huge burden on industrialists.
Shetty even urged the Government to acquire 1,000 acre land for setting up industries in Dakshina Kannada district as all the industrial areas in the district are fully occupied.
