‘FlyFromIXE’ A Twitter Campaign By Mangaloreans For Development Of Mangalore Airport

September 16: The Mangalore International Airport (MIA) which was the second busiest airport in the state has slipped on spot and lost to Belagavi airport. Recent developments such as closure of Jet Airways and the opening of Kannur airport in Kerala have had heavy adverse impact on flight services at the city’s airport. The coronavirus pandemic has also has affected the travel industry.
A 12 hour Twitter campaign was launched to boost the overall development of Mangalore International Airport. Twitter page dedicated to MIA regulars – @mlrairportusers, carried the campaign to popularise the airport, along with making requests and suggestions for introduction of new services at the airport.
