For The First Time, A Half Marathon Has Been Organised by Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple: Check Out

For the first time, a half marathon will be organised by Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in association with the Zeus Fitness Club and Decathlon as part of Mangalore Dasara on October 6, Sunday. Besides the 21km half marathon, events will also be held in 10km and 5km categories. The first prize winners of the half marathon and 10km run will be awarded Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively. Temple management committee trustee Padmaraj R said that the event with the motto — ‘One City One Spirit’ and ‘DK’, Where unity means strength’.
While there will be an entry fee for the half marathon and 10km run, only Re 1 will be charged during registration for the 5km category. Those who want to participate in the half marathon will have to pay Rs 589 for registration. Meanwhile, the registration fee for the 10km run will be Rs 353. All participants in the half marathon and 10km run will be given a microchip, which costs nearly Rs 300 each, to track their movement. They cannot deviate from the prescribed routes while participating in the event. The half marathon, as well as the 10km and 5km runs, will commence from the temple gate at 5am, and all three events will be completed before 10am.
Mangalore city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal and Santhosh Poojary, son of Kudroli Temple chief patron B Janardhan Poojary, will also participate in the event. All arrangements will be in place for the safety and security of participants. While nearly 1,200 participants have already enrolled to take part in the run, the number is likely to increase up to 2,000. All participants will be given a medal and a certificate of appreciation.
