Free Rotavirus Vaccination for Toddlers: Here are the Details

September 5: Rotavirus vaccination will be administered to toddlers from September 5 in Udupi district. The drive will be inaugurated by Port, Fisheries and Muzrai Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary at the Government of Karnataka Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Maternity and Children Hospital.
District Health Officer Dr Ashok said that the initiative is taken up to protect children from diarrhoea caused by rotavirus. He said that the drive aims to cover 14,479 kids in the district.
Dr Ashok said that the cost of the vaccination in private healthcare facilities is approximately Rs 600 a dose but the vaccination will be given free of cost to all infants of the 6th, 10th and 14th weeks at all government hospitals, primary health centres, community health centres.
He also mentioned that Asha and Anganawadi workers have been imparted training at taluk and district-levels on giving oral drops to the kids.
