Ganesh Festival is Just a Week Away: This is How Konkan Railways is Gearing Up to deal with the Rush

August 25: Ganesh Chaturti is being celebrated on September 2. This is the time when most of the people travel to their native places. Konkan railway sees immense rush during this festival every year.
On the occasion of Ganesha festival this year, Konkan Railway is all set to deal with the rush. Konkan railway in coordination with Central Railway and Western Railwayis running 210 trips of special trains other than its regular train services, towards the Konkan region. In addition, 647 more coaches have been added as compared to last year.
An experimental halt of train no 12051/12052 Dadar-Madgaon Junction-Dadar Janshatabdi Express has been provided at Sawantwadi Road station from August 30. The provision of extra booking windows will be made available t stations to clear the rush at booking counters as per requirement. Reservation facility is also available at 11 post offices. Town booking agency at 16 locations are also available to issue tickets. Intensive ticket checking will be carried out at stations and also in trains.
All catering establishments are directed to keep a sufficient quantity of eatables and drinking water and baby food products at their stalls.
First-aid posts will be set up at Khed, Kankavali and Kudal stations, along with the health units at Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Thivim, Verna, Madgaon, Karwar and Udupi, from September 2 to 12.
Anti-sabotage checks at stations will be carried out at railway stations in coordination with the state police, to ensure additional safety of passengers.
