Good News For Jackfruit Lovers: 31 Varieties Of Jackfruit Being Conserved At Pilikula Nisargadhama

December 14: Thirty one varieties of jackfruits have been conserved at Pilikula Nisargadhama to conserve the vanishing varieties of jackfruit. All of them are elite grafted cultivars procured from well-known grafter from  perdoor in Udupi district.
Principal Scientist at the nisargadhama H. Soorya Prakash Shenoy said that these are high yielding in nature, differ in colour and have good sweet taste. Among all the varieties which have been planted at Pilikula, some are early yielding which bear fruit after three years of planting and some are late yielding that take time, up to 10 years after planting.
