The expansion project will add 10000 sq.mt space to the existing terminal building which has an area of 18000 sq.mt. This will also help AAI segregate its arrival and departure operations . The passengers Arriving will be able to exit the terminal building directly through the car park level.
Airport director of MIA, V V Rao said that current arrival and departure operations take place at same level tends to cause chaos, especially during the peak hours. Therefore the new arrival hall will come up at lower ground floor level and be equipped with three conveyor belts as against the one now and both domestic and international arrivals will have three belts each.
Along with this, the expansion will also see the airport add two more aerobridges to take the total numbers to six. Additional lifts and escalators will also be installed as part of this project.
