Government Turns Down Private Bus Operators’ Demands: Buses To Stay Off Road In Udupi

May 11: The state Government has given permission for buses to start operating in green zones but with certain guidelines. In Udupi district, the private buses are not ready  on the guidelines issued by the government.
The private bus operators’ association said that as per the conditions of government only 50% of allotted passengers should be taken in every trip, no increase in journey fare, sanitization of the buses and providing masks to the passengers is a must and these rules are difficult to follow. They demand that the journey fare should be increased by at least 50% and there should be a rebate in toll gate fee for at least three months. The owners also demand that insurance period should be extended by two months. But the government did not agree to these demands and hence the private buses will remain off roads in Udupi district.
