Great News For Dakshina Kannada: Student From Puttur Wins Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

January 26: Rakesh Krishna K first year PU student from Puttur is among the 32 children awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar this year. He interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi  through a video conferencing at the Zilla Panchayat  Office in the city on January 25, Monday.
Rakesh Krishna, who studied at Vivekananda English Medium School, Puttur, has focused on the agriculture sector and come out with many prototypes. One among these is the “Novel seeder for systematic cultivation”, which he presented at the Jignyasa 2018 competition organised by Agastya International Foundation in Bangalore.
Rakesh spoke about  his invention “Seedographer” which is  multi-purpose seed sowing machine aimed at systematic cultivation. He also presented his seedographer prototype before the media and revealed this manual implement can be used to sow seeds as well as   srpinkle water and fertilizers.  He said it took almost three to four years to design this  machine weighing 15 to 18 kg.
